The first time you sleep in the Serengeti, you may pinch yourself that you are actually here. After long and dusty drives in your safari car, quietly observing prides of lions, cheetahs on rocks and simply marvelling at the huge open skies, luckily it is not disappointing arriving at your tented camp for the night. This is not camping as you may know it, for these tents have dark wooden floor boards, a four-poster bed, with inviting crisp white sheets and fluffy pillows. As the sun goes lower and lower over the plains and the sky turns red and the first stars light the skies, you are invited to have a drink around an open fire. As the flames dance in the night, this is a great time to share stories of the day or learn more about this special place.
Dinner is served and you are welcomed to your table. How do they manage to create such feasts in the middle of the plains?! But create they do and eat you must! Maybe enjoy a red wine with your meal and chat about the next days plans. After a delicious three course dinner, you wonder happily to your tent, shining your torch around in case you catch some eyes watching back at you. As you settle down for the night, distant voices can be heard – a lion warning others, hyenas chatting or elephants stomping. The best sleep is found in the Serengeti; cool, dark nights, big soft beds and dreams of the day to come.
