Climbing Ol Doinyo Lengai, an active volcano! The climb starts at midnight, arriving at the summit at 6am, to witness the colours and sounds of the volcano. The descend down is only about 2 hours. Be aware that this is not an easy climb, but steep, strenuous with often narrow paths! If you have a physical / medical issue problem or bad knees - do not attempt this climb!
Introduction
Lake Natron is a salt lake near to the Kenyan Border where you can witness the most spectacular scenery and enjoy a variety of activities. Lake Natron is the only regular breeding ground in East Africa for the 2.5 million Lesser Flamingos. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, you can climb an active volcano, Ol Doinyo Lengai! This is a hot and mostly dry part of Tanzania, with temperatures often reaching over 40 degrees Celsius.
This area is home to the famous Maasai people, so a safari trip to Lake Natron includes a visit to a local village where you can learn more about their life. This adventurous trip also gives you options of riding donkeys, nature walks and swimming under waterfalls.
